The FCI Pathway
Three levels, sixteen modules, sixty-four lessons. One continuous method that starts with the coach and ends with a group led over a full season.
The through-line
Each level takes the same discipline and applies it to a wider object. Nothing is repeated; every level assumes the one before it.
LEVEL 1
See
The individual player, and the coach looking at him. Describe before you explain.
LEVEL 2
Guide
One player over a season. Turn understanding into a plan, a conversation, a session, a matchday.
LEVEL 3
Lead
Twenty players, a staff and a club. Culture, standards and the season as a process.
What runs through all three levels
The coach is the instrument
Level 1 opens with it as a proposition. Level 3 closes with it as a finding you have evidenced in your own handwriting.
Describe before you explain
Observation before interpretation, at player level and at group level. Atmosphere is a conclusion; behaviour is data.
Cause before intervention
The same behaviour has eight possible causes and each calls for a different response. Three of them sit directly with you.
Evidence before conviction
State the conclusion so it could be false. Decide in advance what would change your mind. Then go and look.

Foundations
SeeUnderstand yourself as the instrument, the person behind the player, and how to observe and interpret behaviour without jumping to a verdict.
1.1 The person behind the coach — identity, environment and values
1.2 Your identity as a trainer/coach — football biography and game beliefs
1.3 Qualities in context: strengths, overuse and development areas
1.4 Values in practice: looking at players more fairly
2.1 Understanding the person behind the player — behaviour and developmental stage
2.2 Connecting with players — relationship stages applied to coaching
2.3 Designing the team environment
2.4 Applied assessment: building the foundation of your team
3.1 Observation as a core coaching skill
3.2 Common observation errors and biases in coaching
3.3 Structuring your observation
3.4 Case-based observation assessment
4.1 From observation to interpretation — the ladder of inference
4.2 Behaviour, cause and meaning — attribution
4.3 From moments to patterns — triangulation
4.4 From understanding to direction
You can now say what you saw, and why you think it means what you think it means
Applied Guidance
GuideTurn a direction into a development plan, a conversation, a training design and a matchday — then test whether any of it worked.
